Excitement is building for IWEA's 5th Annual Wind Conference April 9-11th, 2012 at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. Iowa has achieved over 20% of its electrical generation from wind energy, ranks number one nationally, and has become a role model for the same goal nationally! The theme for the conference is Iowa Wind Power: A Model for America!
All members of Iowa's Congressional Delegation have been invited and Representative Steve King is the first to confirm his attendance. Iowa Governor Terry Branstad has also been invited to attend.
Denise Bode, CEO of the American Wind Energy Association, will provide a Keynote Address on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. AWEA has over 2,500 member companies and is the most influential wind industry trade group in the United States.
The conference will feature 60 industry exhibitors and a GE wind turbine blade from the TPI Composites plant in Newton on display and available to be signed by conference attendees. A reception for Iowa lawmakers will be held in the evening of April 9th. A wide variety of information sessions is being planned with a wide variety of topics including storage and alternative uses for wind energy, updates from regulatory agencies, electrical transmission project updates, small & community wind projects, and new developments in turbine and tower technology. Displays of energy research projects from Iowa's universities and colleges may also be included during the conference.
