Solar Millennium and Southern California Edison sign supply contracts

This was announced by Solar Millennium AG, the German parent company of Solar Millennium LLC, in mid-June.

The contracts, which still need the agreement of the California Public Utilities Commission, are the basis for the development of two parabolic trough power plants with an output of 242 MW each. There is also the option of a third power plant with a similar output. The PPAs regulate the purchase of the electricity produced in the solar power stations by SCE over a period of twenty years. The plants are set to go on-grid between 2013 and 2014.

Each of these large-scale power stations will have a solar collector field about three times larger than that of the Andasol power stations that were developed by Solar Millennium in Southern Spain.
