200 MW of the planned wind energy capacity will be installed by the state energy utility Administratión Nacional de Usinas y Trasmisiones Eléctricas (UTE). The remaining 300 MW will be provided by private companies, which have been offered contracts that guarantee to buy the produced electricity for 20 years at a fixed price.
The winner of the first invitation to tender, for 150 MW, is the Spanish Abengoa group. The Company will receive between 81.15 US$/MWh and 86.26 US$/MWh for the electricity. Tenders for the second 150 MW can be submitted until April of this year.
