Brussels celebrating 10 million heat pumps

Major stakeholders of the energy, heating, cooling and other sectors, as well as policy makers were invited by the European Heat Pump Association to celebrate together. The reason for this event was remarkable, namely more green energy, zero emissions and clean air, all that thanks to 10 million heat pumps installed in Europe.

During the party, many attractions were awaiting the participants. However, the main attention was concentrated on an animated video presenting the market development and milestones of heat pumps in the course of the last 20 years.

“To get where we stand now, wouldn’t be possible without the industry pioneers” said Thomas Nowak, EHPA Secretary General. Therefore, to pay tribute to them, EHPA organized a photo contest collecting pictures of the oldest heat pumps. The grand finale of the contest took place during that evening. 12 companies sent their entries and descriptions of heat pumps dating from 1948 to 2000. The winner photo of the oldest heat pump was from Star Refrigeration and it dated back to 1948. The second place was taken by Daikin (1958) and the third one by Glex Dimplex (1976).

“We would like to thank you all for the enthusiasm!” continued Mr. Nowak “My goal is to reach 30 million heat pumps by 2030. Let’s make it happen!”.
