alpha ventus draws positive balance

Last year, the German offshore wind farm alpha ventus fed 267.8 GWh of electricity into the transmission grid. This means that the energy yield exceeded the original forecast by 15.3%, says the operator consortium DOTI. The positive earnings trend is expected to continue in the first quarter of 2013.

Liebherr presents its offshore crane simulator at the Offshore Europe 2013

Based on original software and hardware, the Liebherr simulators increase safety and productivity by providing a cost-effective and highly professional crane operator training solution. DEWI has presented the current figures on the development of wind energy in Germany. According to the report, the cumulative capacity of wind turbines as of 30 June 2013 reached 32,479 MW and the number of plants was 23,287.

Siemens has installed a further exemplar of its new 6 MW gearless wind turbine, this time on the test site of the power utility SSE in Hunterston, Scotland.

Mt Gellibrand Wind Farm receives final approval

Located 25 km east of Colac and 17 km west of Winchelsea in Victoria, Mt Gellibrand Wind Farm will be constructed by Acciona Energy. It will consist of 63 wind turbines and will have a capacity of 189 MW. Construction will commence by 15 March, 2012, but a completion date has not yet been determined.

Vestas cuts jobs

Vestas wants to cut its fixed costs by € 150 million by the end of 2012. This means that in the coming months 2,335 jobs will be lost, of which 1,300 will be in Denmark. Administration jobs will be particularly affected.

Prokon also in Finland as of 2012

Prokon is not entering new territory here, as it has already had business connections with the Finnish generator manufacturer The Switch since 2010. Building on these contacts, Prokon now wishes to open its own project development office at the same location.
