Seajacks and Samsung build large offshore installation vessel

Seajacks International, offshore installation contractor, has entered into a contract with Samsung Heavy Industries to build an offshore wind farm installation vessel. The vessel has been specifically designed to meet the demands associated with working UK Round 3, Scottish territorial waters and the other North West European markets.

Nordex SE is going to gradually phase out U.S. production of its engine houses in Jonesboro, Arkansas, after completion of current orders in the coming months, and will manufacture their wind turbines for North and South America in Rostock in the future.

The Active Fire Fighting System (AFFS) from Siemens has been certified by VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH and Germanischer Lloyd and is now officially approved for the protection of offshore wind turbines.

1,700 Dutch households jointly bought their own wind turbine by crowdfunding. Within a record time of just thirteen hours, all 6,648 shares in the wind turbine were sold. The transaction facilitated by the Windcentrale raised € 1.3 million in an astounding new crowdfunding world record.

Nordex receives big order from Exelon

The 81.6 MW project consists of 34 large turbines of the new type Nordex N117/2400. Exelon is to start the preparatory construction work in May, with the delivery of the turbines from the Nordex factory in the USA to take place in the late summer of 2012.

South Chinese province to build offshore wind farm

This has been reported by the state news agency Xinhua, referring to an announcement made by the electricity supply utility Guangdong Electric Power Development Co. Ltd.

Goldwind enters Pakistan market

Costa Rica: 50 MW awarded to Acciona

Acciona will design, construct and operate the Chiripa wind park following an investment of US$ 125 million. The wind park is planned for the municipality of Tilarán (Guanacaste province) in northwestern Costa Rica, and will consist of 33 wind turbines of 1.5 MW unitary capacity.

ACCIONA passes the figure of 200 wind parks installed in Spain

The Peña Nebina wind park is located at Ferreruela (Zamora) and has a capacity of 20 MW spread across ten 2 MW wind turbines. With an estimated investment of around € 28.6 million, it will generate clean energy equivalent to the consumption of 17,000 homes. The construction of the wind park has meant the creation of around 200 direct jobs.

45 MW for Estonia

The Paldiski Wind Farm is operated by the power supply companies Eesti Energia AS und Nelja Energio OÜ, each of which will be purchasing nine GE 2.5-100 turbines. GE has in return agreed to provide full maintenance services for the first ten years. The turbines are to be delivered in spring 2012, and the farm is scheduled for grid connection later in the same year.
