51 MW wind farm project in Russia

A wind park with a total capacity of 51 MW is being developed in the Russian Federation in Kalmykia. Turbine manufacturer FWT will be responsible for the turnkey realization of the project, which is scheduled to start commercial operation in 2017.


Gamesa lands new 48 MW order in China

Gamesa has announced a new order from Chinese utility Datang for the supply of 48 MW at Sanlengshan wind complex. The company has been contracted to install 24 G97-2.0 MW turbines.

A recent study carried out by the German Offshore Wind Energy Foundation shows that significant acceleration and cost reduction can be achieved in the area of offshore grid connections. It also proposes improving network utilisation to quickly eliminate bottlenecks on land.

DONG Energy has decided to build the offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 2 in the German North Sea, which is expected to be fully commissioned in the first half of 2019.


Chorus Clean Energy AG acquires wind parks in France

German Chorus Clean Energy AG based in Neubiberg near Munich acquired four wind parks in the Poitou-Charentes region in Western France with a total capacity of 62.2 MW – the largest wind park portfolio in its company history so far.

Adwen and LM Wind Power have partnered to lower the cost of energy in offshore wind. LM Wind Power has developed and built a 88.4 meter blade specifically for Adwen’s AD 8-180 wind turbine model.


Siemens and Gamesa intend to merge

A major merger in wind turbine manufacturing is just around the corner: Siemens Wind Power and the Spanish company Gamesa have announced binding agreements for merging the Siemens wind power business, including service, with Gamesa. The combined company will be based in Spain. Siemens will hold a 59% stake and Gamesa's shareholders will hold 41%.


Gamesa completes purchase of NEM Solutions shares

The Spanish turbine manufacturer Gamesa has increased its stake in software developer NEM Solutions to 50 percent. The regulatory authority gave the green light for the transaction. Gamesa aims to use NEM to improve its installations service.


Adwen begins testing the AD 8-180 in Bremerhaven

Adwen has begun testing the drive train of the AD 8-180 at the IWES Dynamic Nacelle Testing Laboratory (DYNALAB) in Bremerhaven. The validation process will continue until the end of the year and includes mechanical and electrical tests of the drive train and the primary tower components as a unit.
